Plan around three separate venues
The three venues are Meriken Park, Higashi Yuenchi and the Former Foreign Settlement. Decide whether you want to see one area or all three, then use the official event map to plan transfers.
Part of Meriken Park is ticketed
Advance tickets are ¥500 on weekdays and ¥750 on weekends; same-day tickets are ¥1,000 and ¥1,500. Group tickets are ¥400 weekdays and ¥600 weekends. Check the latest organizer notice for the paid-area boundary and entry time.
Reach Meriken Park from the harbour-side stations
Kobe City's park guide places Meriken Park about 700 m southeast of Minato Motomachi Station, 900 m south of Kyukyoryuchi-Daimarumae Station and 800 m south of JR/Hanshin Motomachi Station. Port Loop and City Loop buses from Sannomiya or Shin-Kobe stop at Meriken Park.
A winter event of remembrance and recovery
Luminarie began in 1995 in remembrance of the victims of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake and as a symbol of recovery. Check the official schedule for artwork placement and lighting hours on your visit date.
