The Nov 2 evening program is scheduled for 18:50–20:20, while the main event on Nov 3 runs 10:20–15:25. Pick the evening parade or the daytime program before arranging the rest of your day.
A dance route through central Kagoshima
The official tourism guide describes an approximately 1.48 km route through Takamibaba, Izuro and Sambashidori. Use the event map to choose a viewing point along the route.
Check tram and bus changes
Road closures can change tram and bus operations. If you are leaving after the Nov 2 evening program, check the city transport bureau's event notice and the last service back to your accommodation.
From folk-dance circles to marching bands and Ohara 21
The Nov 2 evening program centres on Sō-odori group dancing to Ohara-bushi and Kagoshima Hanya-bushi, plus an Ogojo taiko showcase. The Nov 3 main program has four parts, adding marching bands and the Ohara 21 dance to the group dancing and drums. Traditional performances are also scheduled at Centerrace Square on both days.
